This past Sunday marked a significant moment for Toronto’s transit network with the phased opening of the Eglinton Crosstown Line 5. After years of planning, construction, and system integration, the launch of Line 5 represents one of the most consequential infrastructure milestones in the city’s recent history.
The Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT) project is widely recognized as one of the largest and most complex transit infrastructure initiatives in Canada. Spanning approximately 19 kilometres from Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy in the east, the line includes 25 stations and stops, with 15 underground and 10 surface-level locations. Once fully operational, Line 5 will connect with 54 TTC bus routes, three subway stations, and multiple GO Transit lines, significantly improving east–west connectivity across Toronto.
A Transformational Transit Project for a Growing City
The introduction of Line 5 is expected to reshape daily commutes for thousands of Torontonians, helping reduce congestion, improve travel reliability, and expand access to employment centres and neighbourhoods across the city. Beyond mobility, the Crosstown represents a long-term investment in Toronto’s economic resilience, sustainability, and urban development.
As population growth continues across major Canadian cities, projects like the Eglinton Crosstown highlight the importance of well-executed public transit infrastructure. Delivering systems of this scale requires not only engineering excellence, but also sustained collaboration across public agencies, private partners, and highly specialized project teams.
Supporting the Eglinton Crosstown Through Specialized Talent
Recruit Engineers – A Live Assets Company is proud to have supported the Eglinton Crosstown project in partnership with Crosslinx Transit Solutions since 2021.
Over several years, Live Assets worked closely with project leadership to support infrastructure hiring and transit recruitment during critical phases of delivery. This included scaling teams, filling highly specialized roles, and ensuring continuity across complex workstreams as the project advanced toward commissioning and operations.
Our approach emphasized identifying transferable skills while securing deeply specialized expertise—helping professionals transition into new, high-impact roles while ensuring project teams had the capabilities required to meet demanding technical, regulatory, and safety standards.

Beyond meeting immediate hiring needs, the Crosstown engagement reflected a broader objective: supporting long-term talent development within Canada’s transit and infrastructure sector.
By recognizing adjacent experience and aligning professionals with complex transit environments, Live Assets helped individuals expand their technical scope, leadership exposure, and career pathways—while supporting continuity and stability within delivery teams.
This balance between project outcomes and workforce development is central to how Live Assets supports infrastructure organizations across Canada.
